Collection: The Emotionally Connected Parent

Parenting is hard and it brings up so many emotions in us – we are learning to parent our children and we are learning about ourselves at the same time.

The 'Emotionally Connected Parent' is a safe and non-judgemental space for busy, courageous mums and dads committed to growing as parents to become confident in holding clear boundaries and your child(ren)'s emotions, all while building a stronger connection with them.

Supportively held by Elisa and Joel, it's a space where we can lean on each other and share the challenges of parenthood, receiving warmth and helpful tools for managing ourselves better when it gets hard.

The sessions aim to address some of these questions:

  • How do we manage our own emotions when we are triggered by our children?
  • How do we model healthy approaches to emotions like anger, when we may not have had those growing up?
  • What are our children, and our reactions to them, trying to teach us about ourselves?

The Emotionally Connected Parent is a 4-part experiential workshop series - held in the welcoming space of Little Origins in Frome, that includes 4 sessions each centered around a specific theme:

  1. Anger: How to live and model healthy approaches to anger, how to manage your child's anger?
  2. Disappointment: How do we help our children through emotions like sadness, disappointment, worry and anxiety? How we can best be our own and our children's support in dealing with a rainbow of emotions, in a society pressured to feel "eternal joy"?
  3. Grounded presence: How to find balance and calm when we are ourselves triggered by our children, and how to support our children's own emotional regulation?
  4. Connection: How to nurture connection with your child and address the obstacles that keep you from being truly present with them?

Elisa and Joel are both certified therapeutic coaches blending Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed facilitation, and nervous system-based practices to help leaders, groups and individuals reach their true potential in life and at work.

Sessions are every 2-3 weeks starting Oct 22nd for mums and Oct 23rd for dads. Click into the mother's series or father's series to find out more.

    Session 1

    Anger

Anger has a pretty bad reputation. Many of us fear it, try to control it or then feel guilty if it comes out. In short, most of us don’t really like anger.

But then, how do we help our children navigate anger (and let’s be honest - their anger can be pretty powerful)? How can we model a healthy relationship with anger - neither suppressing it nor accidentally condoning violent behaviour? And what does it look like to hold boundaries around what is acceptable?

    Session 2

    Disappointment

Dealing with disappointments, 'failures', and comparisons is tough: in us as well as for our children. These emotions can be difficult to accept. So how do we navigate emotions like disappointment, sadness, fear of failure, or anxiety?

How can we become a steady source of support - for them and for us - as they move through the full rainbow of emotions, especially in a society that seems to pressure us to chase “eternal joy”?

How do we encourage positivity while also helping them to embrace whatever emotions arise when they face their first challenges?

    Session 3

    Grounded Presence

Children can’t regulate their emotions on their own yet - that’s where we, as parents, step in to help. We’re often told to “be the eye of the storm” - sure, that sounds wise, but….. how?

How do we find balance and calm when our children trigger us? How do we hold boundaries around what we need in the moment? How do we guide their emotional regulation when many of us were never shown what that even looks like? And perhaps the most pressing question of all: how do I regulate myself in the first place?

    Session 4

    Connection

We all want to be connected and present with our children. And yet, all too often, we find ourselves going through the motions. Overwhelmed by the demands of modern life, what gets in the way of that connection? What causes us to disconnect, and how do we find our way back?

When we notice ourselves seeking refuge in our phone, chores, or work, how can we pause, return to the present, and truly connect with our child(ren)?

These groups are open to anyone on a parenting journey, including trans, queer, and neurodivergent parents. We aim to hold space for the diversity of family and parenting experiences. While we don’t claim specific expertise in these areas, we’re committed to creating an inclusive and respectful space where everyone’s experience of parenting is valued and supported.

    2. Time is so limited - Do I have to commit to the whole series?

We completely understand how challenging it can be to find time — especially with young children 💛 That’s why we’ve kept things as flexible as possible.

You can simply choose the sessions that work best for you, or the ones that feel most relevant for you in this season, and join just those.

    3. Money is tight at the moment so it’s hard to invest in the support even if I know I/we need it

We’ve kept the pricing as flexible and affordable as possible 💛
✨ Your first taster session is just £20 so you can try it out before committing.
✨ There’s also a big discount if you book the whole 4-part series.

We’ve set aside 2 concession spots for families who need financial support — please get in touch if that’s you.

And if you’re a couple and both want to join, message us for a special discount — because experience shows that going on this journey together is so valuable! 💫

    4. I already feel guilty /bad for how I respond to my children sometimes, will I feel even worse about myself?

We’re parents ourselves, so we truly get it — we’ve been through it too 💛 The foundation of this approach is non-judgement: we aim to bring understanding, compassion, grace, and curiosity to all parts of ourselves — even the harsh inner critic.

We believe that parents just don’t get enough support, we are not given a manual when we get our little ones and if we want to show up for our children in the way that most of us wa
